FODP was chosen by the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh as one of the top ten preservation opportunities for 2008. Dan Holland, CEO of the YPA stated that "the Dormont Pool was selected because it is a community asset worth preserving and can help Dormont attract attention to other aspects of the community". He also stated "it's unique....the largest in Pennsylvania. It put Dormont on the map". The award was given during the "Catch the Pioneer Spirit Event" at the New Hazlett Theater on May 16th. Pool supporter Rick Sebak of WQED was the guest speaker. YPA website www.youngpreservationists.org. |
